Forget Motivation - Just Do It

The whole idea of motivation is a trap. Forget motivation. Just do it. Exercise, lose weight, test your blood sugar, or whatever. Do it without motivation. And then, guess what? After you start doing the thing, that’s when the motivation comes and makes it easy for you to keep on doing it.

In the course of building your Watkins business, or other network marketing business, how many times have you found yourself saying that you just aren’t motivated to do anything? How many times have you felt that you’ve done nothing on a given day because you just couldn’t find the motivation to get started?

I think most of us can admit to this. I know I can, without a doubt. There are occasional days that I don’t get much of anything done for that very reason.

Important concept to grasp: once you begin a project or start working on a task, each small accomplishment towards completing that project or task motivates you to keep going.

So, the key is not to mysteriously stumble upon something that will motivate you to start a task - the key is to just stop making excuses and get started.

The easiest way to do that is to have a list….a to do list if you want to call it that. At the beginning of each week, make detailed notes of what you want to accomplish that week. Break it down into organized daily tasks and enter those tasks into your calender or daily planner. How many business prospects will you contact? How any of your downline members will you call and help?

This one thing is the most important thing you can do to ensure your success. This time spent will guarantee that you don’t sit around and aimlessly ponder different things looking for the motivation to start a project, while trying to convince yourself that you’re really working.

Obviously, this works only if you make it a point to do what you have outlined for each day - regardless of whether you feel motivated to do it or not.

This is a short, simple statement on goal setting and planning. There are many excellent resources available that you can use to help you set up short term and long term goals.

It would certainly be to your benefit to do some research and find some further reading on goal definition and planning. Just don’t wait till you feel motivated to do it. Make it happen now and discover how much you really can accomplish.
