Specific Goals in Network Marketing

I had the occasion to attend some advanced MLM / network marketing training recently. One of the big topics of this seminar was goal setting, and how it relates to success in your business. In a nutshell, I would like to summarize three key points from this.

1) Many network marketers have a simple goal - “I want to make more money” or “I want to make enough to quit my job”. While these are admirable goals, they are not specific enough to be effective. You need to define how much money you want, when you want it, and why you want it. If your goal is to quit your job, you need to define why you want to quit the job, how much net income it will take, and a realistic time frame for achieving this.

2) Include in your goal statements some specific pleasures or freedoms that you will enjoy when you achieve your goal. For example, if your main goal is to make enough to quit your job and be financially free, visualize some other things you want to go along with that. Do you want a new house or a sports car? Do you have a desire to help others who are in need? Whatever it is that appeals to you, include it in your goals. This will give more purpose and depth to your desire.

3) Finally, and this is really important, write all of this down and refer to it often! You can modify and add to your goals as you go along, but it is necessary to write them down. This gives them more validity, more meaning than if you just keep them in your head.
