WATKINS RED LINIMENT is one of the “SUPER SEVEN”, meaning one of the 7 most famous and popular products that have been famous and popular forever! Well… Almost forever. You’ll find people asking for Watkins Red Liniment as Watkins Liniment, Horse Liniment, Watkins Horse Liniment, and, of course, Red Liniment. This is the product that started it all! Originally made in J.R. Watkins’ kitchen.
WATKINS RED LINIMENT is the very first product formulated by J. R. Watkins in the year 1868 and still one of our best-selling health aids! Provides great relief from the discomfort of minor muscle pain, soreness, stiffness and backaches. Just pat on for soothing relief.
LIQUID FORM: Just pat onto skin; liniment is absorbed deeply for fast relief.
Deep penetrating formula: Reduces muscular discomfort due to overexertion, fatigue and strains; provides temporary relief for minor aches and pains associated with simple backache, arthritis, strains, bruises, sprains, and stiffness.
Ingredients:
Camphor 3.5% w/w:Occurs in nature in the camphor tree, an Asian evergreen related to cinnamon. When applied to the skin, camphor produces a mild local anesthetic action (depresses some nerve endings and stimulates others). It also acts as an antipruritic, which means it relieves itching.
Capsicum (red pepper): A raw material that produces a warming effect on the skin; at higher levels, a burning sensation. The burning could become unpleasant if rubbed vigorously; therefore, we recommend that this product be patted on rather than rubbed in.
Pat onto sore areas and give it a little time and the pain will magically lessen or disappear!
Add a capful in your bath to soothe the aches and pains.
When you’re stuffed up or have other nasal problems, take a hot shower, cover the drain with your foot and pour a bit of Red Liniment on the floor of the shower and you’ll get a powerful dose of nose clearing vapor! You might cough a bunch, but you’ll feel a lot better for quite a while after your shower.
Use on poison Ivy to get rid of the itch.
