Work Hard for Home Business Success

I was reading an e-book this afternoon on the subject of succeeding in business, particularly a home-based business such as Watkins. The author made reference to the fact that many people starting a home business are looking for a quick and easy way to start making money. He pointed out that many of the activities required to make money take time and a lot of effort (building a prospect base, developing retail customers, establishing a web presence if you are doing something online, and so on).

Unfortunately, I have found many new home business builders are guilty of this. Many folks are looking for a “magic method” or shortcut to building their business. I will admit, I have been guilty of this in the past. Personally, I have known times when I would search endlessly on the Internet for marketing and web development tools that would make advertising and promotion a simple matter of installing software and clicking a “Submit” button. I know how it feels. We live in an automated age, where so many things we used to do manually are done by computers. It is very tempting to search for tools that will build our businesses easily.

Thankfully, I realized a long time ago that there are no magic bullets, pills, or methods to building a home business. Certainly, there are tools that will help us promote and build, but the best of those tools still require significant effort to learn how to use them properly.

Bottom line - there is no magic. Technology can help us, but it can’t do everything. We as entrepreneurs still must put in the time, the hard work, to make it happen
