MLM Junkie Who Lost Out Big Time
Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on April 14th, 2007 I received in the mail yesterday a postcard promoting a business selling vacation packages. It had the usual language, in this case “Let’s Earn Vacations and Ka-Ching our bank accounts”. I almost tossed it without a second glance, but I happened to see the sender’s return address. The person who sent me this promotion was once in Watkins. His story is truly sad, when it is considered what he lost.
Here is the story, in a nutshell. This gentleman (I will call him Tom, not his real name) has for years been known for participating in numerous MLM and home business opportunity programs (several at any given time). At one time in the early 1990’s, I know for a fact he was in at least a dozen different deals. One lucky day, not long after he added Watkins to his list of opportunities, he heard about an up and coming entrepreneur (I will call him Joe, not his real name) whose chosen MLM program had just shut down. Tom sent Joe some information about Watkins, and after due diligence Joe signed up in Watkins under Tom.
Joe immediately brought over a substantial downline to Watkins from his previous business. Tom was in an unbelievable position. All Tom had to do was focus on Watkins, and build some business outside of Joe’s leg, and he would have had what he was chasing all along - financial freedom. As it turned out, Tom continued to spend time and money trying to promote a dozen other things. He eventually dropped out of Watkins.
This story as always amazed me. Tom had it all - how many MLM business owners would like to recruit a true “heavy hitter” like Joe?
The bottom line - to make money in MLM or network marketing, find a good solid opportunity like Watkins and work it hard. Don’t chase rainbows or fall victim to scam after scam that promises big bucks fast. Focusing on one reputable, legitimate business will pay off big time for you.
