Work Hard for Home Business Success

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on April 29th, 2007
I was reading an e-book this afternoon on the subject of succeeding in business, particularly a home-based business such as Watkins. The author made reference to the fact that many people starting a home business are looking for a quick and easy way to start making money. He pointed out that many of the activities required to make money take time and a lot of effort (building a prospect base, developing retail customers, establishing a web presence if you are doing something online, and so on). Unfortunately, I have found many new home business builders are guilty of this. Many folks are looking for a "magic method" or shortcut to building their business. I will admit, I have been guilty ...

Work Your Network Marketing Business Today

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on April 27th, 2007
Success in network marketing comes by working your business each day. Too many times, network marketers fall prey to procrastination and tell themselves "I will work on this tomorrow, when I have more time". Tomorrow. What exactly is tomorrow? Does tomorrow actually ever arrive? We can use tomorrow in different ways. Some people live in the world today and when they wake up the next day, it’s another “today”. Some people have hopes for tomorrow but don’t live in the today and do anything to improve their tomorrow. If our ambition is to build a significant, long-lasting residual income through network marketing, it is necessary for us to do something to build our business each day. This can be something as simple ...

Different Perspective on the Watkins Business

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on April 25th, 2007
Yesterday, I received an email from a prospective Watkins associate. This prospect faces physical challenges, and was concerned about whether she had the ability to build a Watkins business. I am posting my reply here, because I believe a lot of potential business builders wonder about these same issues. I have removed some details to protect privacy. Hello Prospect, Thanks for writing and explaining your current situation. I know that your physical challenges are not easy to deal with. I admire your strength and courage for continuing to work with these challenges. Watkins probably does sound too good to be true - but it isn't. What is different with Watkins, as opposed to typical business opportunity pitches you'll hear, is that we tell ...

Network Marketing Hype and Promises

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on April 20th, 2007
The Internet is full of promises, hype, and outright lies when it comes to network marketing and MLM business opportunities. For anyone considering starting their own business, this can be very confusing and discouraging. Here are three key points to consider when looking at a network marketing opportunity. 1) Network marketing is a very simple business. You do not need a college degree to be successful. You do need training in how to build your business, and with good opportunities this is provided by your company and proven successful upline leaders. Be sure to find out what training and support is available, and don’t hesitate to ask all questions that come to mind. Your potential sponsor should be willing to work with ...

Don’t Give Up on Network Marketing Too Soon!

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on April 18th, 2007
Many budding entrepreneurs get started in MLM or network marketing, and give up within a year or two. Why does this happen? It goes without saying that this business is not for everyone. However, for anyone truly motivated to build a home based income, network marketing and MLM offer them a chance to do that with a small investment to start. There are two key concepts that cause many people to give up on their business before it has had a chance to develop. 1) Expectations not in line with reality. Some of these false expectations include: The belief that everyone we talk to is going to be interested in our business. Success in MLM and network marketing is easy. No need to worry about ...

Talking to Friends and Relatives About MLM

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on April 17th, 2007
Most MLM and network marketing training emphasizes the importance of talking to your friends and relatives (your warm market) first. This is thought to be the best way to get started. In many cases, this is absolutely true. However, some people new to the business are hesitant to do this. If they have been involved with network marketing businesses before, and have approached their warm market more than once, they probably feel really awkward doing it again. Or, they may have the desire to "prove themselves" before approaching friends and relatives. Whatever the reason, it is perfectly okay to build your network marketing or MLM business outside your warm market. I got started this way, by advertising and finding new prospects ...

Best Way to Learn Network Marketing is by Doing

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on April 16th, 2007
The best way to learn how to do network marketing effectively, is to do it. Study the training that your company provides, learn the basics, and then just jump in and start growing your business. Avoid the temptation to "over train" and try to learn all the answers before you begin. As you move along in building your business, you will be able to get answers to all your questions when you need them. I have known many new network marketers who showed great promise. Along the way, they never got started for fear of taking action. It is easy to fall victim to "paralysis by analysis" - the condition that results when a networker finds it impossible to get started ...

MLM Junkie Who Lost Out Big Time

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on April 14th, 2007
I received in the mail yesterday a postcard promoting a business selling vacation packages. It had the usual language, in this case "Let's Earn Vacations and Ka-Ching our bank accounts". I almost tossed it without a second glance, but I happened to see the sender's return address. The person who sent me this promotion was once in Watkins. His story is truly sad, when it is considered what he lost. Here is the story, in a nutshell. This gentleman (I will call him Tom, not his real name) has for years been known for participating in numerous MLM and home business opportunity programs (several at any given time). At one time in the early 1990's, I know for a fact he ...
