Home Business - Dealing with Discouragement

Dealing with this discouragement is critical to your success. Unfortunately, I have seen some very promising businesses dry up and fail because of the associates’ inability to deal with this.

Most Watkins associates, as well as those involved with other network marketing opportunities, will sooner or later face distraction and resulting discouragement with their business. This is a normal result of our busy lives today. Unfortunately, life does not just stop and let you work your business. As you are dealing with life issues and all the chores and problems that are involved, you can become discouraged with your homebased business if you let these distractions stop you from working your business on a consistent basis.
A key thought is this - you cannot wait for life and circumstances to be just right for you to develop your business. Many people have failed in Watkins, and network marketing in general, by waiting for the “right time” to get started. I have seen new Watkins associates purchase a startup kit, then sit waiting for just the right time to start. Somehow, they feel the presence of that Watkins kit is going to motivate them to get going – as soon as the time is right. Unfortunately, life is always going to be busy and you will never find a “right time” to get started. You simply have to make the time for your business, and just do it!
It will help tremendously if you are clear as to WHY you started your home business in the first place. If your motivation is sufficient, if you have good reasons for building your business that really mean something to you, it is much easier to work past distractions and get your business moving. In my own case, there are times when I simply have so much going on that I feel I cannot put enough time into Watkins. I have to stop and think, though, why I am in the Watkins business in the first place. Keeping my reasons and vision in front of me helps to overcome the tendency to let life get in the way of working my business consistently.
In a future article, I will discuss the importance of working your home based business on a daily or consistent basis. This is one of the secrets to success in Watkins and network marketing in general. Scattered, hit or miss efforts rarely result in much business growth or income. It is persistent focused effort that makes it happen.
Be sure you know WHY you started your home based business. Just looking at your business materials and thinking about all the great potential (“as soon as the time is right”) won’t make you successful. Keep your goals and vision clearly in mind and meditate on them often. Just doing this alone will help you through the distractions and excuses that life throws at all of us.
What great advice! Me and my wife just got started with affiliate marketing online and are documenting our progress on our blog. This is not our first business, but we found the right mentor, and are starting to build a core team around us to propel all of us to the next level.
I’ve found that anytime you are feeling unmotivated, you just need to remember exactly what inspired you to want to do something in the first place. If you can get back to what inspired you then you can start taking the actions to forward your goals.
