Doing What Works in Network Marketing
The process of “re-inventing the wheel” is something I’ve seen in many new network marketing associates. For some reason, a few new associates seem to feel they have an obligation to figure everything out about the business on their own. They want to start from scratch, as if to prove something to someone.
For some reason, these new associates choose to ignore any and all training that’s available. They don’t consult with their successful upline leaders - the leaders who have achieved what the new associate presumably wants to achieve. They don’t take time to learn about tools and business methods that have been proven effective. Instead they just jump into trying to market the products and opportunity with whatever random ideas they come up with.
Important to remember: any associate who ignores proven, time-tested business methods and disdains advice from leaders in their upline is headed for trouble. They may have a blast trying out different ideas and “off the wall” techniques, but they can burn out fast when their untested methods don’t get the results they expect.
Some associates end up investing hundreds (even thousands) of dollars in mostly worthless advertising and promotional tools. Some waste a lot of time trying to make techniques work that have been proven to be ineffective (like FFA page ads and most free classifieds).
The keys to building a successful network marketing business are:
- Learn what has worked for those in your upline who are successful.
- Do what has worked for those in your upline who are successful.
- Use the proven marketing and promotion tools that are available to you. Let them work for you.
- Don’t reinvent the wheel.
