Thanks to Watkins Executives Randy and Jan Robinson for this excellent article and insight into what makes a successful home based business tick. This is Part Two. The link to Part One is here: Your Home Business - Will Tomorrow Ever Come? Part One Most of the things said above for most people are just excuses to put off doing something for their future. Why would people put off doing something that could solve all of their financial and time problems with some consistent effort? I don't know. But in most cases, they really could do what it takes to work out of it. Most of you know our story. When I started our Watkins business, I worked 16 ...

Your Home Business - Will Tomorrow Ever Come?

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on February 27th, 2007
Thanks to Watkins Executives Randy and Jan Robinson for this excellent article and insight into what makes a successful home based business tick. This is Part One. "The Journey of one thousand miles must begin with a single step." - Chinese Proverb Tomorrow. Tomorrow is a very interesting word and concept if you really think about it. What is tomorrow? Today is yesterday's tomorrow. Tomorrow will be today tomorrow. Does tomorrow actually ever arrive? We can use tomorrow in different ways. Some people live in the today and when they wake up the next day, it's another "today". Some people plan for tomorrow but don't live in the today or do anything to improve their tomorrow. "Greatest labor-saving device ever invented was 'Tomorrow'!" ...

Talking About Your Network Marketing Business

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on February 25th, 2007
Have you started a network marketing or MLM business? Do you feel all excited about the potential, yet still find it hard to talk to people about your products and business? Don't feel bad - this isn't all that uncommon. Being afraid (or shy) about talking to people can stop your business cold before you ever get started. There are ways to overcome this. One important thing to do - make sure you truly have a strong belief in your business. Another important thing - do you have a well-defined and written goal for your business that really excites you? For example, you may strongly dislike your job. Does the thought of building a home-based income and quitting that job excite ...

Protecting From Failure in Network Marketing

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on February 24th, 2007
Tonight's post is short and to the point. Think about the importance of these principles and do your best to implement them as you build your own home business. The way to protect yourself from failure in your network marketing or direct sales business is: - Never, never, never, never, never, never quit. Find one good opportunity, set goals and make a commitment, and stick with it. - Maintain an excellent attitude. Bad attitudes tear potentially successful businesses down before they even get off the ground. - Develop an unshakable belief in what you're doing. This is a must - it empowers you to resist the negatives you will encounter as you move up. - Invest time in personal development. Never stop learning. Always ...

Doing What Works in Network Marketing

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on February 23rd, 2007
The process of "re-inventing the wheel" is something I've seen in many new network marketing associates. For some reason, a few new associates seem to feel they have an obligation to figure everything out about the business on their own. They want to start from scratch, as if to prove something to someone. For some reason, these new associates choose to ignore any and all training that's available. They don't consult with their successful upline leaders - the leaders who have achieved what the new associate presumably wants to achieve. They don't take time to learn about tools and business methods that have been proven effective. Instead they just jump into trying to market the products and opportunity with whatever random ...

How Avoidance Can Hurt Your Home Business

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on February 22nd, 2007
Some Watkins associates (and those in other network marketing or direct sales businesses) can get off track by practicing what we might call "avoidance". Depending on your attitude, confidence and background, it can take some tough self-discipline to consistently do the things that lead to success in this type of home business. Often, associates spend too much time focusing on activities and tasks that may have some value for their business, but that don't directly result in more people hearing about Watkins and our excellent business opportunity. Some things associates can easily overdo, to the point of not making the contacts necessary to succeed: - Spending too much time "getting organized" and "setting up your business". - Spending too much time on paperwork that ...

Network Marketing Prospects - A Numbers Game

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on February 21st, 2007
You have probably heard it a thousand times - "prospecting in network marketing is a numbers game". This is a fact. The more people you contact, talk to, and communicate with the more you'll sponsor and the bigger your network marketing business will grow. For people new to network marketing, the process of contacting and talking to a lot of people can be very intimidating. You may experience a lot of rejection, and I know it doesn't help much to say "they are not rejecting you, they are rejecting your business". While I believe that is usually true, it is still painful nonetheless. Try to remember this: if you consistently make contacts, and talk to people, an average will appear. In ...

Seven Steps to a Successful Watkins Business

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on February 20th, 2007
It won't get much simpler than this. :) These seven steps work wonders for anyone wanting to build a profitable Watkins business. The same steps apply to you, if you are in any network marketing or direct sales business. This is not magic. These steps are based on time-tested principles of success. 1. Decide why you want success - it is surprising how many people start a home business and really don't have their "why" firmly defined. You need to know. 2. Experience the products yourself - in network marketing or direct sales, you must know and love your products. Otherwise, your confidence in representing them won't be there. 3. Believe in what you're doing - know that you are in a fantastic business that ...

Starting a Watkins Home Business

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on February 19th, 2007
If you're searching for a solid, reputable home based business opportunity, take a look at Watkins! Watkins is an established company (since 1868) that manufactures a popular line of household, personal care, and cooking products. Many people know Watkins for the "classic" products that have been around for many years. Watkins black pepper, cinnamon, red liniment, and organic cleaner and degreaser are just a few of the 300+ products that have enjoyed great popularity in the marketplace. The amazing thing is that the Watkins opportunity is still wide open. For example, as part of my business, I sell Watkins products through an online catalog. I still get occasional comments from people who didn't realize that Watkins was still around. They remember ...

Franklin Planner and Goals - Part Four

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on February 18th, 2007
My thanks to Jan Robinson, my upline Executive in Watkins, for this excellent information on organizing and growing a Watkins business using the Franklin planning system. These same principles will apply to any other network marketing business. Planning is crucial for all. The following is part four (the final part) of this article. Summary: (mind you this is a Reader's Digest version) In your 10 minutes look over your goals and values. Look at your previous to do list and move anything that didn't get done the day before, to today, or a day further out that looks better for getting it done. Enjoy the check marks from the previous day's list. Add the items to do today and evaluate. Its a proven ...
