Network Marketers - Make Yourself Available

I recently had a new associate join my Watkins business. My new Watkins associate told me an interesting story. She had been considering the Watkins business, as well as two other home business opportunities, for quite some time. She had tried repeatedly to contact someone from the other two businesses, but amazingly she was unable to get a return email or a call back. I responded to her inquiry quickly and spent time answering her questions about our business, so she decided that Watkins was the way to go for her.

Have you ever picked up the phone and called a business only to get no answer and no voice mail? Or, you get a voice mail but no-one calls you back? Have you visited a web site and found something you’re interested in buying, only to find no email address or phone number to contact anyone with a question? Maybe you found an email address, and sent an inquiry, but never got a response (or got one days later). Did you patiently wait, or try to find the same product elsewhere?

If you are like most people, you tried to find the same product elsewhere. If you were inquiring about a network marketing business opportunity like Watkins, you probably found another associate’s web site and contacted them. What happens a lot of times is that the person you are trying to contact is no longer in the business (or is there but not interested in it any more). On the Internet, there are thousands of home based business opportunity sites that are abandoned. These are sites that someone has set up and personalized for their own use in promoting an opportunity, but they have lost interest and no longer respond.

One thing I have learned the hard way - it is VERY important to promptly answer emails and return phone calls about your business. I know in the past I have lost several new Watkins associates because I wasn’t prompt in replying or calling back. Remember, on the Internet, you are likely competing with several other people who are in the same business you are. Many home business opportunity seekers find a business they like, then shop around for a sponsor. They are looking for someone they feel comfortable working with. What will set YOU apart is promptness in responding to inquiries and following up with prospects. Believe it or not, many network marketing distributors do not do this. Failing to be easily accessible to your prospects and customers is another reason that network marketers fail.

Set yourself apart and distinguish yourself as a leader in your business – be prompt in answering emails, returning phone calls, and following up!
