Network Marketing Failure - Reason Five

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on October 21st, 2006

The fifth reason that new Watkins associates and other network marketers and MLM’ers fail is that they care only for what they can get out of the business. In other words, “what’s in it for me” is all that matters to them. Since network marketing and MLM is a people business, this is a terrible attitude to have.

Have you ever signed up for a network marketing business opportunity, paid good money to get started, then found that nobody upline seems to really care about your success? Have you ever called or emailed your upline and received no response? Has the communication from your upline been only in the form of generic email messages that are sent to everyone? I think many of us have had this experience at some point.

It has been proven time and time again - the most successful network marketers are those who help their downline succeed. They understand that those under them must be successful, in order for them to be successful. Steve Bretzke, the leader of the Summit Group in Watkins, is a good example of this. From the day that Steve started his Watkins business, he knew that helping others in his group to succeed and grow profitable Watkins businesses was the key to his long-term success. Steve developed a system for success with Watkins that anyone could follow, and made it available for free to everyone in his group. None of this “buy these tools from me and you will be a success” stuff many so-called network marketing “gurus” pull. Steve has unselfishly offered his time and expertise, for free, to everyone in his group for years. The result? Steve and Ginny Bretzke are the top earners in Watkins today.

Don’t fall for these network marketing and MLM deals where you sign up and get a little help, then are asked to pay money to buy something else to “help you succeed”. It is a sad fact that some MLM organizations have been known for making as much or more money on selling tools and books to their downline than from actual sales of the company’s products. The most successful people in network marketing find a stable opportunity, stick with it, and give liberally of their time and knowledge to their downline.

Network marketing should always be about helping others succeed. This is one of the universal laws of success. I have found that my success with Watkins is directly related to how many people I help to build profitable Watkins businesses. Help others to succeed, and your success will follow.
