Network Marketing Failure - Reason Four
The fourth reason that network marketing associates fail (Watkins associates or any other), is that they are uninformed on how to succeed in network marketing or MLM. They have not taken advantage of training provided, or in general have not taken time to learn what works.
Many new network marketers feel that they already know how to run a business. Salespeople think they know. Traditional business owners, managers, and people in other professions which (at first glance) look similar to network marketing or MLM, think they already know how to do it because they are already successful and accomplished in what they do. When I first joined Watkins, I thought I knew how to do it. I wasn’t convinced initially that I needed any special training.
Unfortunately, in the real world of MLM and network marketing, it does not work that way. We think it is obvious how to build such a business, we think it just takes a little common sense. New networkers are often told (wrongfully) that network marketing is easy and that anyone can do it. Because of this, new network marketers will tend to ignore a successful system that has been developed by people who have succeeded and will repeat the same mistakes that so many others have made in the past.
It is so much better, and easier, to throw out any preconceived notions and decide that you will learn a system for success. Find an opportunity you like, then take advantage of all training that you are offered. Why spend time struggling and making mistakes that successful associates have made in the past, mistakes which encouraged them to work up a success system that helps the new associate to avoid those mistakes? Look to the people who have achieved success in your chosen business opportunity. Listen to what they have to say. Follow their leadership.
Don’t forget, if you are currently employed in a regular job, you probably had substantial training before you took your position. This training prepared you to be successful in your job. Why would success in a home based business be different?
