Network Marketing Online

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on October 31st, 2006
So, you are ready to start your network marketing business, and you want to build your business online. Great! The internet offers almost boundless opportunity for finding and contacting excellent prospects for your new business. But, beware - beneath all that potential there are a few things you need to consider, to ensure that your new venture is successful. Network Marketing - a People Business No matter what anyone tells you, a successful and long-lasting network marketing income is not going to be built around anonymous online marketing. Putting up a website and then expecting people to just sign up and make money for you isn't realistic. Internet prospecting is just a tool that enables you to identify people who have an ...

Handling Complaints in Network Marketing

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on October 30th, 2006
Everybody with a network marketing business loves success and making money. Nobody in Watkins, or any other network marketing business, wants to hear complaints or problems. However, even with the best of opportunities, there will be times when you encounter complaints and problems you must deal with. When faced with a complaint, the worst thing you can do is ignore it. That is our human nature - to ignore or gloss over a problem and hope it will go away. Frankly, many problems do seem to go away or resolve on their own, but it is always best to address any concerns that your customers or downline members have. A customer complaint is usually easy to resolve - if they don't like ...

Is Network Marketing for Everyone?

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on October 29th, 2006
I am a strong believer in the power and profitability of network marketing. I often see pitches for network marketing opportunities that scream "anyone can do this!" How can this be true? Is network marketing truly a business that is suitable for everyone, as we are sometimes led to believe? I believe that network marketing is an excellent home based business model. I believe it works for those who choose a solid opportunity like Watkins and genuinely work at it while remaining steadfast and patient as their business grows. However, I do not believe network marketing is for everyone. A network marketing home based business is not for you if: 1) You don't feel comfortable working with people. Any way you look at ...

Why the Watkins Business is Special

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on October 28th, 2006
Today, I would like to talk a little bit about what sets Watkins apart from other network marketing, direct sales, and MLM businesses. Network marketing and MLM are basically the same, but some people exclusively use one term or the other, so I include both. Most home business opportunities can be clearly classified as either network marketing or direct selling. Watkins is a unique blend of the best in network marketing and direct sales. Direct sales is traditionally thought of as the "home party plan" type of opportunity - opportunities such as Pampered Chef and Tupperware. Watkins has an excellent home party plan called "Good Tastings". For those who enjoy doing home parties, the Good Tastings program is an excellent choice. ...

Laziness in Network Marketing

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on October 27th, 2006
Some people start a home based business like Watkins and think "Okay, I've purchased my kit, so where is my bonus check?" In some way, they feel that the mere act of purchasing a distributor kit is going to make them a success. They may even have a deep inner "warm fuzzy" about the kit, thinking of it as their key to the start of something BIG. But, that Watkins kit will never make money for them by itself. The same goes for any other network marketing business you start. You can’t just sit back and wait for something to happen, or wait until the “time is right”. You must take immediate action as soon as you get your kit. ...

Dealing with Discouragement in Network Marketing

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on October 26th, 2006
Most Watkins associates, as well as those involved with other network marketing opportunities, will sooner or later face distraction and resulting discouragement with their business. This is a normal result of our busy lives today. Unfortunately, life does not just stop and let you work your business. As you are dealing with life issues and all the chores and problems that are involved, you can become discouraged with your homebased business if you let these distractions stop you from working your business on a consistent basis. A key thought is this - you cannot wait for life and circumstances to be just right for you to develop your business. Many people have failed in Watkins, and network marketing in general, by ...

Giving Up on Network Marketing

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on October 25th, 2006
One of the most prominent, and obvious, reasons that network marketers fail is that they give up easily. Many quit and move on during their first 90 days with their new business. I have seen folks join my Watkins downline and give up long before they even gave their new home business a chance. Sometime, new home based business owners expect things to happen very quickly. They expect to be making significant money in their first month or two, even starting out part-time. If they don’t, they often quit not realizing that the work they have already done may be about to start paying off. Consider this story. You rent a plot of land from a neighbor, because you want to ...

Following Up with Network Marketing Prospects

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on October 24th, 2006
Your home based business prospect, Erica, just saw your ad for your network marketing business. She clicks your link and visits your web site. She thinks, "This might be what I've been looking for!" So, Erica calls or sends you an email, and asks for a product catalog and more information on your business by postal mail. You get the message, and decide that you will get around to sending Erica something (but in the back of your mind, you really hope she will just decide to sign up online and spare you the trouble). At this point, Erica is really excited about your home business opportunity. She is a stay-at-home mom who needs to build a nice home-based income, and ...

Network Marketers - Make Yourself Available

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on October 23rd, 2006
I recently had a new associate join my Watkins business. My new Watkins associate told me an interesting story. She had been considering the Watkins business, as well as two other home business opportunities, for quite some time. She had tried repeatedly to contact someone from the other two businesses, but amazingly she was unable to get a return email or a call back. I responded to her inquiry quickly and spent time answering her questions about our business, so she decided that Watkins was the way to go for her. Have you ever picked up the phone and called a business only to get no answer and no voice mail? Or, you get a voice mail but no-one calls you ...

Reasons Network Marketers Fail

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on October 22nd, 2006
In an effort to help those interested in joining Watkins, and those who have already signed up in Watkins, I recently began publishing a series of short articles that each highlight one of the reasons that new Watkins associates fail to build strong and profitable businesses. These reasons apply not only to Watkins associates, but to any other home based network marketing or MLM business owner. Each article points out a common mistake that networkers make, then offers positive suggestions and solutions to help you build a profitable business with your chosen opportunity. I originally started giving each post a title like "Network Marketing Failure - Reason One", then "Network Marketing Failure - Reason Two", and so forth. In order to ...
