Evaluating Network Marketing and MLM Companies

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on September 15th, 2006
When considering a home business opportunity, specifically a network marketing or MLM business, it is important to take a hard look at the company behind the opportunity. What is the company's reputation? Is the company risking your livelihood (and theirs) by allowing bogus product claims or "get rich quick" testimonials? Does the marketing plan encourage the illegal practice of "buying in" at higher levels to achieve greater profits for the upline and company itself? A company must be diligent and on top of advertising being done in the field as well as all claims being used. The Attorney Generals in many states are cracking down hard on companies who "look the other way" when their representatives are violating the law by ...

Do Network Marketing Products Matter?

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on September 14th, 2006
The product line is, by far, the most important aspect of any network marketing or MLM opportunity. However, not everyone believes this. Many will point to the compensation plan as the most important consideration. The compensation plan is certainly important, but what good is the world's highest payout if the products themselves are inferior? You want products that are quality and that people actually want to buy, even if they are not involved in the business opportunity. Some things to consider when evaluating products:First, you need to look at it from a consumer standpoint. Are the products high in quality and is the price competitive with similar products on the market? If you were not earning anything from ...

Promoting Your Website with FFA Links

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on September 13th, 2006
I often sponsor folks who are interested in building their Watkins business online, but they have little money to invest in advertising and promotion. One of the first things they discover, while looking around, is the large number of FFA (free for all) link pages on the Internet. There are a number of paid services that promise to "blast your ad" to thousands or even millions of these sites. This sounds very appealing! Small investment, lots of ads and links to your site. However, there is a catch. Very few business opportunity seekers actually land on FFA pages and click the links. A FEW do, but not many. FFA link pages are set up for one main reason - to collect email ...

Watkins and the Summit Group

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on September 12th, 2006
The "Summit Group" is what we call the Watkins downline of Steve & Ginny Bretzke. Steve and Ginny joined Watkins back in late 1990, after unhappy experiences with other MLM and network marketing companies. Since they signed up, Watkins has been their only business, and today they are at the very top because of their focus and commitment to Watkins over the last 16 years. Unlike other network marketing entrepreneurs who have "made it", the Bretzkes are still very active with their business, and very supportive of their downline group. Any member of the Summit Group can pick up the phone and call Steve or Ginny. They are always willing to share everything they know about building a successful home business. ...

Online Business Opportunity Gurus

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on September 11th, 2006
I always advise people to be very careful when considering a business opportunity on the Internet that is based around some "guru" figure who claims to have made big money. There is usually the story about how this guru was once dead broke, perhaps having spent years trying different businesses, until they "stumbled" on some big secret that turned things around for them. The "big secret" is often a particular network marketing program, or in some cases an affiliate program or some sort of "plug in and make money" type of site. Often there are promises that this guru will build your business for you. He will give you so much "spillover" that you will not believe it. So, you sign ...

How Much Money Can You Make With Watkins?

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on September 9th, 2006
Everyone is different and situations and circumstances vary. There are many people in Watkins who earn in excess of $100,000 annually. However, there are others who have made little or nothing because they didn't do anything. They didn't buy products for themselves and they didn't tell others about the business. Fortunately, the Watkins compensation plan directly rewards those who put forth the effort. If you work smart and hard, you can earn more than you would putting the same effort into a different job or business. Not only that, the income you earn with Watkins is residual, which means you can continue earning for years on the work you do today. By sharing the business opportunity with someone else, you ...

Building a Network Marketing Business Online

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on September 8th, 2006
What about building a network marketing or direct sales business online? Can it really be done? Yes. You can reach a large number of prospects this way. With the right tools you can provide a lot of information to them online as well, condensing your mail and telephone activity to the most interested prospects. (These are the ones you want to work with anyway!) When prospecting online, however, it is still very important to remember that solid business is built on relationships. Get to know your best prospects and your new distributors, and help them in any way you can. Developing good relationships online is really quite simple, but many folks aren't aware of how to do this. Caution -- Beware of online ...

Network Marketing Compensation Plans

Posted in Watkins Business by Eldon on September 5th, 2006
Let's take a look at MLM and network marketing compensation plans. All talk about percentages and payouts means nothing unless you have solid, legitimate products backed by a sound, reputable company. This is important to remember! Some marketing/compensation plans have monthly requirements to stay "active" in order to purchase products at a discounted price. Preferably, there should be no monthly requirements to remain active because if the products are really good, then the representatives should want to buy them for themselves (and sell them to others at retail) without the requirement to do so. These days, most MLM/network marketing opportunities do not require you to stock products or directly pay out any bonuses to your downline group (as was once the ...
