Do you want to achieve success in network marketing and finally get from “where you are” to “where you want to be”?
There is SO much good training out there. You can pick up any number of great courses that teach the fundamental skills needed for success in this industry.
I’d say with all the great training, there is also a lot of noise. You have to be steady and pick out the most important things and focus on them.
As you go through this simple blueprint for success, think carefully and make a commitment to do whatever it takes to get your business on the right track.
Settle Down and Make a Commitment
This is hard for many people. I know because I’ve been there and had to struggle with this.
There is so much opportunity out there, so many options, so much promise and hype. The result of all this is distraction. It can be really hard to pick one solid network marketing company and stick with it. Know this – you have to do it. While this is a simple business, it does take hard focus and concentrated effort. If you’re frequently distracted looking for more promise or something better, it can kill your efforts.
No matter what company you choose, there will be problems. They will do something you don’t like. A top leader you like may jump to another business. Things happen. You have to be determined and make a commitment to stay firm and succeed where you are. Get into something you feel good about and stick with it.
Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff
This is business. People will come and go. Some will sign up and take off like rockets, then crash and do nothing else. People will seem really sincere and then disappear.
You have to view your business objectively and refuse to take setbacks personally. You have a choice. We are in a people business, and some people you sponsor will become very valuable members of your team. Others will gripe and complain about everything. Still others will blame you and the company for their lack of success.
Don’t sweat any of this. Keep moving forward and making things happen.
Discover How Money is Made
In pursuit of network marketing success, many people spend way too much time on activities that don’t directly lead to increasing income. Planning and preparation are important to your success, but it’s really easy to overdo this.
What makes money for you in network marketing? Activities that cause products to move in your organization. Your income in this business is directly related to how much product is purchased and consumed. So, it’s important to focus on activities that cause money (and income) to flow – sponsoring and spreading the word about your products and opportunity.
Use your most valuable daytime and evening hours to focus on having conversations with prospects as well as supporting your existing downline team as needed. Planning and preparation activities should occur at other times as much as possible.
No Free Spirits Here
If you haven’t yet achieved a serious level of prosperity (full time income and beyond), please don’t make the mistake of trying to be a free spirit and reinvent the wheel. There is always room for creativity in this business, what I’m talking about is utilizing business building strategies that won’t get you where you want to be.
For example you will likely never make big money in network marketing by spending three hours a day posting free classified ads all over the Internet. There are many ways to do passive marketing like this, but putting too much focus on them is counterproductive.
Seek out the leaders in your company and upline who are where you want to be. Look at the top earners and achievers. What are they doing? It just makes sense to follow the plan they teach rather than follow your own unproven path. This does take some humility, honestly, but ask yourself where you really want to take your business.
Put on Your Armor and Do Battle
I have seen so many people get discouraged and quit. Success in network marketing isn’t an easy thing to achieve. This business is fun and rewarding, but the need for patience is often understated.
You may see the stories and testimonials from top leaders who went from zero to $10 per month in only six months. Or whatever. What you don’t see is that they brought over a big group from a previous opportunity and exploded their income quickly.
What you also don’t always see, in these testimonials, is the hard work these leaders put in when they first got started in the business. It takes time, sweat, and persistence to develop the connections and momentum to reach where they are.
The bottom line – you have to be determined to stay focused and stick it out. If your business isn’t growing, pay special attention to the next step below. Just don’t quit – improve.
Business Success Demands Mastering Skills
I was listening to a show this morning on the Home Business Radio Network. The host was telling her story about getting started in business, and how hard it was to pick up the phone and call prospects. She stumbled, sounded awkward, but eventually just did it over and over enough to get really good at it. Now, she enjoys calling people!
There are skills that you will need for success in MLM. If you aren’t comfortable with calling prospects (even those who have expressed interest through an ad you placed), then you have to work on that. There is no way around this.
In a people business like network marketing, you must develop people skills. You don’t have to be a social wizard necessarily, just developing good communications skills will do wonders. Learning to listen, what questions to ask, and things like that.
Start by checking out your upline team training – many times they will have suggested scripts that you can use for calls (not reading them out, but practicing them over and over until it flows naturally and sounds unrehearsed).
For any marketing training that you go through, implement and practice what you learn as you go. This way, you get immediate benefit. If you hear a tip on a conference call that sounds cool, start applying it right away. This will be tremendously encouraging.
Stretch and Stretch Some More
Push yourself out of your comfort zone. It’s human nature to start a business and try to achieve MLM success while staying in our comfort zone. The truth is, you have to do things you don’t feel like doing, to make the most of your opportunity.
If you struggle to talk to two people a day about your business, triple it to six. Stretch. If you have business cards and are afraid to approach people and pass them on, do it anyway. This is how you grow – by putting yourself in situations that demand it. It works!
Just Do It
This last part of the blueprint is the hardest. Just do whatever it takes to get it done. Push yourself. Review this blueprint for network marketing success every day, at least until you are doing these things habitually. You will be thrilled and totally excited about how quickly your business can grow!
