To build a strong and profitable network marketing business, you have to make the most of your leads and prospects.
Your advertising and promotion can attract lots of prospects. That’s great because you want to keep a steady flow of leads coming into the top of that funnel.
Now, the big thing is helping the best of those prospects and network marketing leads become a part of your growing downline team. There is much written and taught about how to get leads and prospect effectively.
In this post, I want to give you a simple little secret that can make a world of difference in how effective your prospecting really is. This might seem too simple, so hang in there with me and let’s think about it. It can help you sponsor a lot more effectively.
How you feel about prospecting will determine in great part how your prospects will respond and react to you. They will get an impression of your sincerity, honesty, and integrity based on what they feel from you.
Here is a little self test to help you. Think about the last two or three of your network marketing leads you talked to. What went through your head? How did you prepare before you talked to them?
During your conversation, were you trying to say the right words that would impress them and persuade them to consider signing up with you? Honestly, were you thinking more about what’s in it for you, than anything?
That’s one of the most common prospecting mistakes that I see. If you feel that prospecting is all about getting what you want, it will shine through and your leads will pick it up easily. It will turn them off and minimize the chances of them wanting to work with you.
What should you do, then? I think you already know. You should focus on what THEY want. You should focus on giving value to them. People respond very well when you are giving, and draw back when they sense that you are only interested in getting.
Think about how you feel when a pushy commissioned salesperson has an attitude that screams “buy this now so I can get a commission!” It’s not a great feeling, right? You probably leave that store unless you really really have to get that exact item and don’t believe you can find it anywhere else easily.
When people are seeking a home business opportunity, there are reasons. It isn’t always a desire to make a full time income or quit a job they hate. Sometime, it’s a few hundred dollars extra each month to help pay off debt, or to start a college fund for their kids.
Whatever motivates your prospect, that is what is important to them. If you take on an attitude of giving, trying to help them get what they want, it will increase your success immensely. You will become a more effective sponsor and leader.
Think of yourself as a solutions provider. Your network marketing leads are your customers. You want to give them something of value that will solve a problem they have. Or, fill a need.
By positioning yourself as a giver and solutions provider, you warm your prospect and help encourage them to take a look at your opportunity. Focusing on what you want causes defenses to go up because that is picked up immediately and rejected by most people.
Wonder why so many network marketers can’t sponsor and end up failing? One huge reason is they never learn to turn the focus from their own agenda and put the emphasis on how their opportunity will help solve problems or fill needs for their prospects.
It really works. Shift your focus outward, and watch your business grow and prosper!
